Audrey Victoria Cosgrove

Audrey is a graduate of UIC and UIC Law. She started her legal career as an Assistant Cook County Public Defender, was in private practice for 19 years and recently returned to the public sector serving as Deputy General Counsel for the Department of the Illinois Lottery.




Hon. Jonathan Clark Green
Advocates Society Past President
Judge Jonathan Clark Green currently serves in the Domestic Violence Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Judge Green was formerly a Supervising Attorney in the City of Chicago Department of Law, where he practiced civil rights and torts litigation, as well as other claims involving complex discovery, motion and trial practice. Prior to his work with the City, he was Principal of Green & Green, P.C. and Of Counsel to Rock, Fusco & Garvey, Ltd. Judge Green is also a former Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois Attorney’s General Office, and worked on the legal staff of the Illinois House of Representative in Springfield. A graduate, with distinction, of the Georgetown University Law Center’s master’s degree program in international and comparative law, Judge Green has diverse backgrounds in international litigation and transactional matters. He also was a fellow of the American Society of International Law in Washington, D.C., and previously worked in both Brussels and Chicago for European, Asian and American clients. He received his J.D. degree from the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and his B.A. degree from Columbia University in New York.

Joan Ellen Smuda,
Bureau Chief, Office of the IL Attorney General
JOAN ELLEN SMUDA is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois since 1978. She began her career in small firm general practice and later worked for both County and State government offices. In 1995, she was appointed by the Supreme Court of Illinois to serve an unexpired term as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Afterwards, she served as General Counsel to a National fraternal benefit society. Since 2001, she has been employed by the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Illinois in the Revenue Litigation Bureau, where she currently serves as Bureau Chief. Her practice involves collection of debts due to the State of Illinois, State and Local Tax Litigation, Bankruptcy and Administrative Review Law.

Director of Attorney Recruiting, Professional Development, and Diversity for Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul
Thor manages the recruiting and training for all attorneys at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. In addition to developing relationships with law schools to recruit new attorneys, the office actively seeks experienced attorneys looking for a better work-life balance, a collegial atmosphere, and a rewarding and fulfilling career.
