CLE: Emerging Developments in Data Privacy
Approved for 1 hr CLE credit
The presentation will provide an overview of the most recent developments on the European data privacy arena (including the General Data Protection Regulation), as well as laws that have been adopted by various states in the last years. Presenters will also introduce the most common problems that attorneys may face when working on contracts involving data transfers, data collection or data processing.
Speakers:
Anthony Jacob serves as a trusted advisor to domestic and foreign corporations, limited liability companies; all types of partnerships, banks, private lenders, and other commercial lending institutions. Tony provides general corporate and commercial lending legal counsel, which includes advising businesses of every size — from startups and privately held companies to multinational corporations — with cyber and privacy risks. Mr. Jacob has helped businesses with their privacy compliance programs and assisted with drafting of privacy policies and privacy contractual terms in service agreements, website disclaimers, data security/privacy addendums, and data/computer equipment transfer agreements. He is a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, having worked at Hinshaw for over 20 years, and currently serves as the practice group leader of Hinshaw’s Commercial Transactions Practice Group.
Justyna Regan is a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson, residing in the Chicago office, licensed in Illinois and Poland. Experienced in international corporate law, international trade, cross-border transactions, US, and European business law. Her expertise also includes both European and US data privacy laws, and as a privacy attorney Justyna has been assisting US, international and European clients with their privacy compliance and contract aspects of data privacy, as well as data breaches. A Chair of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. Former Fulbright scholar (Chicago-Kent College of Law), holding an LLM in American Business and International Law from the Catholic University of America, a PhD and the title of doctor habilitatus from the University of Wroclaw Law School. A former law professor.
